Curriculum Vitae

Misako Yamamoto, MAcOM, LAc
Misako was born in Kobe, Japan and raised in the Portland area speaking both English and Japanese. She received Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Japanese from the University of Oregon in 1995. After spending 8 months on a solo trek through five East & South-East Asian countries, she arrived back to Portland where she began her acupuncture training at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. She received her Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2004.

Although grounded in clinical diagnostic skills, her approach to healing is primarily intuitive. Classical Chinese theories of illness state that disease arises from emotional and spiritual imbalances. Based upon these tenets, Misako seeks to uncover and treat the roots of illness. Misako uses a combination of acupuncture styles, coupled with shiatsu massage, qi gong and Chinese herbal therapies to provide optimal healing. An avid athlete with a solid foundation in gymnastics, running and rock climbing, Misako also understands the physical causes and nature of disease. Her specialties include women's health, sports medicine and spirit and emotion based illnesses.
